Goku vs. Goku! - Dragon Ball Episode 130 Reaction
Comments
Krillin is a better fighter than Chazou and Yamcha.
I forgot this whole sub story thing happened between Piccolo and the next tournament - like I knew we had Kamie, but I thought we had already done the time travel episode and stuff - I just forgot when stuff happened in Dragon ball. I had the same issue with the water and Darkness, I thought that happened significantly earlier in series. But I was recovering from being hospitalized when I binged watched the series this summer, and some of those episodes I was doped up on drugs when I watched them.
I swear, some of the stuff you have been saying the past week with ideas and stuff, I am like "Are you sure you haven't seen DB and DBZ yet?" Not going to say what, I don't want to give away spoilers.
You asked about movies. I think there are two Dragonball movies, but I haven't watched them yet. You can get through all of the Dragonball series without watching a single movie and be fine. A couple of the movies are kind of abridged forms of different stories in the show. That said, there are a couple of movies I recommend watching. Watch Brodock after watching the first story ark in DBZ, and watch History of Trunks after the Android series but before the Cell series. All the rest of the movies I would call optional, but those two are really musts. I am not saying not to watch the other movies, they are quite enjoyable (well, most, there were a couple of really corny ones, and several of the movies seem to exist in their own universe outside of the canon of the manga / series). I will probably go and watch the Dragonball movies here in a bit, I keep forgetting about them. I am on Super now, like episode 90.
On DBZ, here is what I would suggest - watch the first episode in both the remastered English with the English soundtrack, and then watch with the English dialog with the Japanese music, and decide which you like better. In fact, I would react to both, the music REALLY changes the feel between the two. Most of us who grew up watching DBZ on tv prefer the English music. GT also has an English music and a Japanese Music variation, which makes the show very different. I did not realize this until halfway through, and not sure which i prefer. I actually switched and did English music exlusively when I discovered it, but its hard to say which is better. Once again, its a different feel.
On the plus side, once you get to Super, there is one music soundtrack, but you can tell the composer took ideas from both the previous Japanese and English Soundtracks and came up with something unique.
I will say, there is an Easter Egg in the English version of Super where one of the characters is singing the theme song from the Japanese DBZ.
So yeah, do a reaction to the first episode with both soundtracks, and then choose which one you want going forward. Just remember, most of your English audience will prefer the English soundtrack, whereas your Japanese purists will prefer the Japanese soundtrack. Both are good, they are just VERY different from each other.
