Honestly Suzy for the sake of consistency just go with the Re-mastered English Dub (Since this is the version you are watching with Dragon Ball).
Going from English just trust me. Most of them are "Purists" nothing wrong with that but trust me since you've already gotten used to the English Dub it's much better if you stick with that when it comes to DBZ.

If you watch the funimation version of Z it should sound similar to this version your watching now. A BIG TIP is after your done with the first arc of Z you can watch the first movie of dragon ball Z .

Hey Suzy, as far as DBZ versions you aren’t going to make everyone happy regardless of what you choose so try not to stress lol. I suggest the funimation dub purely because that’s how i watched it (nostalgia and all that). I like the music more and I prefer to watch more DBZ even if it more filler and more of our favorite characters staring each other down lol. I’ve really enjoyed your reactions thank you for all you do!
Kami isn't connected to Master Roshi at any way. A word on Roshi's house is KAME, not KAMI. Kame in Japanese means Turtle. Roshi's title as martial artist is Turtle Hermit (Kame-Sennin in Japanese).
You're misunderstand Kame and Kami. Subtle but a huge difference here.

As other people have said, this is Kami, which is literally Japanese for God. So this is this show’s version of God. Kame means turtle for Roshi the turtle Hermit.
