I mean, this kind of thing is still common place in currently airing anime... I see it almost every anime season. You can't cancel a Japanese anime from the west, Japan doesn't give a shit what western twitter users think lol. Which is good, because western criticism of anime can often be absurd. Sometimes it goes a bit too far for my tastes, but at the end of the day these are drawings not real people so I don't really care that much.
