Its easy to forget that Dragon Ball started out as a gag manga. It wasn't trying to be one of the most influential series ever, it just happened.

Yea its stupid that people judge this harshly, you have to take into account this was in the 80s and not only that it was made from a different country with different customs and norms and since I was a kid in the 90s I didn't even realize all the extra borderline things people would hate today. And yea its a classic carton and This is the most classic anime to ever be made, 2nd only to DragonBall Z so it's not going anywhere. These 2 shows quite literally influenced every other anime and created that came after this and used.it as a template for what kids and teenagers like and Akira Toriyama is one of the most famous well known manga and anime creators of all time. Even Naruto was heavenly influenced by this and I'm shocked you haven't made the connection yet? Remember one of the Tailed beasts in Naruto the 4 tails was an ape and he was called Son Goku? Things like this about the show will eventually come up and see more of the connections
