He was looking for a Dragon ball and unintentionally released Piccolo.

Piccolo killing the Dragon , IMO, was probably the most shocking moment in all of DragonBall the first time I watched it. I didn't even think it was a possibility. Seeing your reaction to this moment was kinda heartbreaking as the reality of it set in 😭
