no use to watch the dragon ball movie
I disagree with people saying to watch dead zone. If you want to watch the filler saga that it prequels then you can go back and watch it when you get to that part in the story. It doesn’t make sense because you meet characters that are supposed to be a surprise in DBZ. And definitely not father of goku, that I wouldn’t watch until after you meet the main enemy introduced in it, which is the second main saga of DBZ.

Any DB watcher would be guessing that Fanfan is the great grandmother of Ranfan in the 21st world martial arts tournament. But she could also be the ancestor of Violet from the Red Ribbon army.

After DragonBall there is a sequel movie called Dead Zone. A movie you should watch before DBZ is Bardock father.of Goku it's a prequel to both Dragon Ball and DBZ but it has like some snap shots of DBZ that you will see but have no idea what it it is or means so you will still need to watch DBZ to understand it. But I reccomend it as a way of paving and getting a good idea of What DragonBallZ will turn into.

Most of the movie are for dbz. Movies that are canon or the dragon ball super movies. Watch the z movies after the series. Just because they reference the shows characters but are stand alone
All of the movies besides Battle of Gods, Resurrection F, Super: Broly, and Super: Super Hero are standalone and have nothing to do with the main series, so you can watch those at your own leisure

I really hope you chose to watch the remastered version for dragon ball z Kai the music is debatable but without a doubt it has better voice actors and dialog it erases tons of fillers that the original has. A lot of the dialogue in the original is very cringe

TIP FOR SUZY you do not need to watch any of the original dragon ball movies they are basically a alternate timeline / retelling of the story and are completely unimportant.
Once you reach dragon ball Z and finish the first arc you can watch the first movie for dragon ball Z. the Z movies are actually worth watching, the original dragon ball movies are not.
